The Number Ninjas – Bookkeeping for our Community
Being part of a community can have really positive effects on our mental and emotional wellbeing. Community involvement creates a healthier mindset through the action of communicating with others in sharing a common interest or cause. But more than that, it can help us to feel a sense of belonging.
Social connection and interaction can give us a sense of purpose, improved self-worth and extra meaning and enjoyment to enhance our everyday life. But did you know that around one-third of Australian adults are not involved in any social or community groups? That means that 1 in 3 Australian’s are missing out on the fulfilment and community spirit that comes with being involved in a community group!
Melton Bookkeepers supporting the local community – and the environment
At The Number Ninjas Bookkeeping, we’re committed to engaging with, and contributing within, our local community to help it thrive.
Our business is very environmentally conscious. We get excited to see people who are passionate about getting their hands dirty; who take time out of their day to do their part for the environment. Many Melton residents still don’t know that Melton has a Botanic Garden. There is a hardworking group, in Melton, of dedicated volunteers working tirelessly to cultivate an area within the community to see it flourish and make it a beautiful space for everyone in the community to enjoy.
And the people who have made this happen within the City of Melton are part of the award winning local not-for-profit community group, Friends of the Melton Botanic Garden Inc (FMBG).
The Number Ninjas Bookkeeping, in partnership with Platinum Accounting & Taxation have supported this community group for many years by donating our time, professional bookkeeping and accounting expertise.
In doing so, we take care of the bookkeeping and accounting requirements of Friends of the Melton Botanic Garden Inc. which enables them to meet their various financial compliance and reporting obligations, and enables them to continue accessing local government grants. Government grants, as well as community membership, are what give this community group a much needed cash boost. This is critical for the group to continue their wonderful work for the Melton Botanic Garden and be able to fund the resources needed to have made this vision a reality.
Who are Friends of the Melton Botanic Garden?
FMBG was initiated in 2003 by just a small group of local residents who shared the vision to develop a local Botanic Garden. That enthusiasm and commitment to their shared vision has now grown to become a significant community interest and educational facility for Melton and the surrounding districts.
FMBG has a fast growing membership consisting of fully paid members, corporate members and volunteers within the community. Collectively, the supporters of FMBG donate many hours of voluntary time each year in various ways including:
- Garden development
- Environmental conservation
- Clean-up days
- Grow the Garden Days
- Water testing and much, much more.
In almost 20 years, Friends of the Melton Botanic Garden have succeeded in their goals to increase knowledge, appreciation and enjoyment of Australia’s flora and fauna heritage throughout the community. FMBG offer regular guided tours of the Melton Botanic Garden to showcase its beauty and to educate visitors of the Melton Botanic Garden.
And not only that, they have actively promoted sustainability principles as well as Cultural and Heritage principles in recognition of the Traditional Owners of the land. The FMBG have created a beautiful open space and thriving haven for Australian native plants and local wildlife for the greater Melton community to enjoy.
If you’ve not yet discovered The Melton Botanic Garden we encourage you and your family to go for a leisurely walk through the garden to appreciate its beauty, as well as the incredible work it’s volunteers have undertaken.
